A Benefit is something that is of value to a person or Enterprise that contributes to their Strategic Objectives. Benefits are the things that the organisation wants to be able to track with Measures to ensure that value is increasing.

The WHY of the programme, rather than the What or the How. These are sometimes referred to as Outcomes.


The realisation of one Benefit often contributes to additional Benefits being realised, shown by the links on your map. For example if you see an ‘increase in staff skills’ you expect this in turn to contribute (along with other factors) to ‘an increase in speed of customer service’. Benefits are linked to show this contribution to one another, creating a visual representation of the ‘flow of value’.
